First Weekend in Extended Stay

We are pretty much accustomed to the noises and limited space and limitations of the extended stay hotel.  But, we are sleeping fine and managing to get our meals taken care of and the dogs are adjusting and doing fine.  There are many things that i appreciate such as the limited space to take care of, we are on the southeast corner (cooler than west side) and we can crake the AC and keep it really cool and we are paying for the electric or cable!  haha.  I also noticed that we cannot hear the fireworks in the neighboring housing additions very much which is good for the dogs.
We went out with friends Friday evening who all have June birthdays.  It was good to see our friends we had not seen in a while.  I ended up going to watch BIL band.  We were not going to go this time, since it was so hot and it was outside.  Then DH heard a rumor that one of my favorite singers was going to show up at this small dive venue.  DH told me to go and he was going to hotel to be sure dogs were ok.  Since it was in the opposite side of the city, i went with a girlfriend.  The rumor was false but I had fun.  Sat I shopped for my Granny and visited with my aunt who had been in the hospital for over a week.  Then I went home and DH and I went to a housewarming party for my good friend.  That was nice seeing people too.  We have been so focused on packing and moving, that we had not done much else the past 6 months.  Sun it was cool from an early morning rain and we went to one of our favorite state parks and hiked 3 miles, then lunch.  I got a few groceries and we relaxed Sun evening.  It was a full but fun weekend.

  1. Hello Nawm, Thank you for visiting my blog and leaving a comment. I like to visit those who visit me and I discovered you are ungoing a BIG change. My husband and I have been retired for more than 10 years but we made our big move about2 years ago, leaving a 2200 square foot town home (after 30 years) and moving into a 50+ 1375 square foot condominium. The downsizing to do this took me about 2 years prior to the move, but because I had family moving in and out over the period of 15 years, I did that downsize action many times before that.

Any way, I would like to check back on you periodically to see how things are going. Your blog is on the blogspot platform. One of the features you can add to it is a box that allows people to subscribe to your blog by readers giving an email address. That way emails are sent to your readers automatically when you make a post - and then I would see everything. If you check my blog you can see that feature on the right side. If that is not do-able for you, then I will just check in when you visit my blog. I can easily hit your name and get to your blog.

We are both going through similar stages of life so it should be nice to check in with each other periodically.

Best of luck with your new life.

    1. I read all of your blog! And felt relatable to many things! Thank you for the tip. I am really enjoying blogging and reading others. I think it will be very helpful as I transition to retirement in a small town after working in large cities since 1990!

  2. Thank you for stopping by my blog and leaving such a nice comment. Glad I could find your funny bone. You certainly had a busy weekend and I like how you and your husband make the dogs more than an after thought. Callie hates fireworks too.

  3. Dear Nawm, it does sound like a full and fun weekend. I moved from my home of 32 years in Stillwater, MN, several years ago. I'd lived in MN for 39 years and coming back to Missouri--where I was born and grew up--proved difficult. But ultimately I began to look for the good here instead of just noticing the differences and always comparing the two states and finding MN so much better> When I gave Missouri a chance, I came to like it here.

But oh, the actual moving and getting settled in a new place takes so much effort and is so tiring--especially is you're older. I wish you well. Be good to yourselves. Treat yourselves and please don't try to get everything done the first month or so. Give yourself a year. Peace.
